Martial art is a game of competition. During competitions students from different schools meet and bond. This enlarges the community further. Apart from encouraging students to bond and form a family, karate also teaches children to reach out to the community. For example, karate schools engage in community outreach program. Children may visit homes and other places in the community where assistance is needed.

Comradeship and cooperation are desirable traits at school and in the family.

At school a cooperative child is less likely to be a victim of bullying because he/she treat fellow students and teachers well. On the contrary, an isolated child is often a soft target for a bully.
